Hello Blendid friends, Last month we hinted that we were about to enter healthcare but couldn’t yet say how. This month we can tell you the whole story — and it’s the biggest one we’ve shared yet. Blendid Pro, our robotic beverage system built specifically for healthcare and commercial kitchens, is officially live at Mayo Clinic, in partnership with Morrison Healthcare. Here’s the full story.

Introducing Blendid Pro — Live at Mayo Clinic with Morrison Healthcare

In June we teased a first hospital deployment I wasn’t yet able to name. It’s now public: together with Morrison Healthcare, we’ve deployed Blendid Pro at Mayo Clinic’s Methodist Campus in Rochester, Minnesota — the first commercial robotic beverage system built specifically for healthcare. It runs inside the hospital’s production kitchen, preparing customized, nutrient-dense smoothies, protein drinks and shakes for patients while also serving staff and visitors.

This is the result of roughly two years of work with Morrison, including an 18-month development effort spanning design updates, prototype testing, recipe refinement, and tasting sessions across culinary, clinical, operational, and engineering teams. Crucially, we didn’t ask Morrison’s kitchen to adapt to us — we adapted Blendid Pro to the ingredients, supply chain, recipes, and workflow they already use. Our guiding principle throughout: kitchen staff shouldn’t have to learn our product; our product has to learn how to work with the kitchen staff. It was a genuine team effort with Compass Group USA, bringing together Morrison Healthcare’s culinary and clinical experts, Compass Digital’s Healthcare Digital innovation team, and Blendid’s engineers — all working in close collaboration with Mayo Clinic.

WHY IT MATTERS

Precision Nutrition, Built for Patients

Liquid nutrition matters most for the patients who struggle with conventional meals — people dealing with swallowing difficulties, poor appetite, fatigue, or recovery from surgery, stroke, or cancer treatment. Blendid Pro was engineered for exactly this. It measures to a tenth of a gram, and three robotic arms handle up to six orders at once, delivering the throughput a high-volume kitchen needs. Because it’s precise, it can be clinical. Every recipe was designed with Morrison’s chefs and registered dietitians, then tuned to individual needs: carbohydrates, fiber, and protein adjusted per patient, ingredients modified for diabetes, allergies, or intolerances, and drinks blended to a specific thickness for patients on texture-modified diets. A chef dashboard lets culinary and clinical teams manage recipes, restrictions, and allergies together.

Why Every Hospital Should Have This

Difficulty swallowing affects a large share of hospitalized adults, and oncology, malnutrition, and post-surgical recovery add many more patients who need carefully formulated liquid nutrition. That’s a need in essentially every hospital in the country. With the Morrison partnership in place, we see a clear path to bringing Blendid Pro across Morrison’s broader network — starting with oncology, dysphagia, and recovery-focused care. Blendid Pro comes in two configurations — Pro and Pro Max — and is designed to fit almost any commercial or clinical kitchen, from hospitals to cloud kitchens to beverage chains.
